Panasonic released its two new 7.2 MP digital camera, the DMC-LZ6 and DMC-LZ7. They both have 6x zoom and optical image stabilization. They both also feature Panasonic’s Venus Engine III, which allows these cameras to handle dark and low light shots.
The Panasonic DMC-LZ7 is distinguished by a large, bright 2.5 inch LCD (2.0 inch for the Panasonic DMC-LZ6) for comfortable viewing while monitoring shots and playing back the results. The mixed pixel readout method used by the CCD automatically increases the brightness of the live image of the LCD, making it much easier to shoot in low lighting.
To further add to their appeal, the LZ7 and LZ6 feature the High Angle LCD function, which makes the LCD display extremely easy to view from below, for example, when holding the camera up high to take pictures over a crowd. Both cameras will be available next month. The DMC-LZ6 and DMC-LZ7 will cost $179 and $199 respectively.

Instead of the normal CMOS camera module, Voxtel W740 Pocket PC phone has a 4 megapixel CCD camera. The camera can autofocus and flash is out in low light environments. It is a thin body, similar to those reported in recent Motorokr E6 / E690, except that the E6 run the Linux operating system. Limited support for network connectivity (Tri-band GSM / GPRS), it can be difficult to sell to users who need an EDGE or HSDPA support.

For those early adopters who want to upgrade to the latest and the greatest, here’s the first USB 2.0 HD-DVD drive from HP. The HD100 DVD-ROM, due by the end of the year, marks a shift of the company’s support for the next HD media from Blu-ray to HD DVD. The company at the same day announced the Pavilion dv9000t, also sporting the HD DVD drive. Interestingly, the image on HP site has a BD text label alongside with DVD & CD; perhaps the case is originally intended for Blu-ray. As for the HD playback, you will need at least a Pentium single-core 840 3.2Ghz or a AMD 64 X2 2.2Ghz in addition to a nVidia GeForce 7600GT or ATI X1600. External output will require a HDMI or HDCP-compliant DVI-D connection.

HP USB 2.0 HD-DVD Drive
The HD DVD, DVD & CD read speeds top at 2.4x, 5x and 14x respectively. 1x in HD DVD denotes 4560KB/s transfer rate. Double-layer DVD from both camps seems to be supported, but HP has yet revealed their speeds. LightScribe is absent in this model. The self-powered HD100 comes with a copy of CyberLink PowerDVD HD DVD Edition.
